Over the past year, the Municipality has undertaken a Regional Commercial Systems Study to review the amount of commercial land for shopping and other services that would be required to serve future population and employment growth. Ensuring the quantity and suitability of commercial land is an important factor in not only servicing the needs of residents and building complete communities, but also current and future businesses. The built-form and type of commercial employment over the next 25-years is anticipated to evolve based on changes in consumer behaviour and key disruptors, such as e-commerce and technology.
