FAQs
What is a Recreational Trails Master Plan?
A Recreational Transportation Master Plan (RTMP) is a guiding document that sets a long-term vision for off-road recreational trails in a municipality. It is a functional plan which provides detailed recommendations and strategies to improve our recreational trails network beyond what may be outlined in the Municipality’s Official Plan. The process to develop a RTMP starts with a vision, which will guide the review of the current off-road trail system and identify areas for improvement. The RTMP also provides best practice trail design guidance. Ultimately, the RTMP will identify a series of actions, policies, and programs that the municipality can take to guide the implementation of off-road recreational trails.
What is the scope of the Recreational Trails Master Plan?
The scope of the Recreational Trails Master Plan is to:
• Identify opportunities for future trail routes and improvements to existing trails;
• Promote healthy and active communities by providing residents and visitors with alternative recreational options; and
• Develop a long-range master plan to guide the development and implementation of a recreational trails network in Strathroy-Caradoc.
