Parks and Recreation Master Plan

The Parks and Recreation Master Plan will guide decision-makers, stakeholders, and the general public in understanding the needs and priorities related to parks and recreation in Strathroy-Caradoc. This includes items such as parkland, community facilities, programs and activities, operations and maintenance, policy development, and financial strategies.

Through research and public input, the Master Plan will examine service levels in all communities across the Municipality and establish priorities for the next 25 years. Recommendations will be developed to respond to community needs, population changes, participation trends, gaps in service, and operational requirements.

Strathroy-Caradoc is committed to ensuring that residents of all ages have access to community amenities and activities that are accessible and support active lifestyles and wellbeing. The Master Plan will assist the Municipality and stakeholders in making strategic decisions to ensure a healthy community, improve quality of life, and encourage a strong economy and sustainable environment.

    On January 17, 2022, Council endorsed the new Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The recommendations will be used to inform future parks and recreation investments and programs in Strathroy-Caradoc, and is a key input into the Municipality's Official Plan Review.

    Over the past year, we have heard from the community & stakeholders about the future of Parks & Recreation in Strathroy-Caradoc. The Draft Parks & Recreation Master Plan is now available for review and comment! There are over 60 action items identified in the Master Plan.

    All comments and questions received will be considered as we finalize the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, which will be presented to Council in early 2022.

    Join us virtually starting on July 20, 2021 as we share findings from our background review and preliminary recommendations for the Official Plan Review and Parks and Recreation Master Plan in a live virtual public open house at 6:00 p.m.

    Pre-registration is mandatory. Click here to pre-register.

    The Project Teams will present an update on these two projects, share preliminary recommendations and findings, followed by questions and answers with the public.

    We understand that busy schedules mean that this date and time may not work for you. That is why following the live public open house, on July 23, a video recording will be posted to the Growing Together Strathroy-Caradoc project page with an open forum available to provide comments and receive answers from the project team.

    Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Virtual Visioning Workshops! The work to complete the Parks and Recreation Master Plan is now underway. We look forward to share these recommendations as soon as they are ready in late Spring / early Summer 2021.

    Share your feedback! A Vision Survey is now live, and presents the visions for the various components of this project to confirm whether we heard the community correctly at the Visioning Workshops. This is an important step for the project team as we advance to future stages of the project. Click here to complete the survey.
